Who made this hole? I'm guessing some kind of woodpecker, but I don't really know. I noticed a larger hole in a nearby tree out my second story window and went out to investigate this morning. There are a number of holes in these two trees, some several inches in diameter and some quite small, like this one. Someone's been busy, anyway.

Yup, I'd say a woodpecker. We went for a walk last week & saw a tree near the road covered in holes of different sizes. I'm really enjoying your blog! :-)
