Driving Miss Natasha

This is my friend Natasha (not her real name!). This afternoon I had the privilege of driving her to an appointment with her surgeon. She suffers from chronic, severe back pain and has had several surgeries for it. On the ride she tells me of God's grace in her life, of God's "sense of humor," and how mysterious and good is his providence. At the surgeon's office, everyone is glad to see her, and she makes them laugh. She suffers in ways I cannot imagine--but she makes us all laugh. I hope if I ever have to truly suffer, I can smile like Natasha and make people laugh.

What a gorgeous picture--beautiful smile! Laura, you have a real ministry helping people with their doctor's appointments. What comfort you must bring them. How is Sharon doing with her cancer?

Aw, thanks. The irony is that Sharon has in the past driven "Natasha" to many of her appointments. We are a small church with only a handful available during the day, so we each do what we can.

Sharon is doing as well as can be expected. She has finished a course of radiation and has ongoing chemotherapy; it's a tough road, very tiring, but her faith is strong and she always manages to encourage me when I see her. Thanks for asking!
